Summary Election Commission denies news reports that it has declared degrees of 27 MPs valid at its own.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A handout issued by Election Commissionof Pakistan says it had not verified any degree at its own.

It says that the news published in a section of press that ECP had verified the degrees of 27 members was baseless.

The ECP is following the procedure ordered of the Supreme Court and no violation had been committed, it says.

According to sources the committee to devise mechanism of scrutiny will meet on first March.

Earlier, a section of press had published a report that the Election Commission of Pakistan had illegally cleared 27 degrees of sitting MPs which were declared invalid by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

HEC chairman says no one except HEC has that right, adding degrees of 13,490 candidates of 2008 polls can be verified the same day.
