ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Supreme Court on Wednesday summoned details regarding formation of judicial commission to probe NAB chief’s letter.

A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the contempt of court case registered against the NAB chief pertaining to the letter written to President Asif Ali Zardari.

During the hearing, the chief justice inquired about formation of the commission over Presidential orders.

“Will a commission be made now to oversee Supreme Court’s affairs” asked CJP.

He said according to media reports Justice (retd.) Nawaz is heading the commission.

In response, NAB chief’s counsel told court that he has no knowledge of the commission.

Earlier, SC Registrar noted that Law Secretary denied the media reports regarding formation of the commission.

The apex court issued notices to editors and publishers of the two newspapers and summoned details pertaining to the commission.

Subsequently, the case hearing was adjourned till March 14.

In the letter written to President Zardari, the NAB chairman had allegedly used strong words against the role of the superior judiciary. He claimed that NAB was not able to work freely due to the decisions made by the court. He also said if the interruptions continue, he would have no other option but to resign from his post.
