Quetta killings: SC orders immediate arrest of culprits

Summary Chief Justice of Pakistan expresses annoyance over non-submission of report by Secretary Defence.

 

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry came hard on government during hearing of Quetta killings case, saying government had totally failed in protecting the lives of the people.


A three-member bench of Supreme Court is hearing the suo-motu notice case.


The secretary defence asked for five days’ time for preparation of the detailed report on Quetta killings.


To this the CJP said country was burning and defence ministry is asking for five days to prepare the report.


He directed all the security agencies to submit their reports.


Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Tuesday resumed hearing of suo motu notice of a deadly bombing which claimed 90 lives in Quetta, the provincial capital of restive Balochistan.

During case proceeding, the bench directed the Interior Secretary and Defence Secretary to appear before the court immediately.

Earlier on Monday, summon notices were issued to Balochistan Advocate General and Attorney General of Pakistan for today’s hearing.
