Summary Sit-ins continued in various cities of the country in protest against killings in Quetta.

 

QUETTA (Dunya Web) - Thousands of Pakistani Shiites refused for a third day Tuesday to bury victims of a devastating bomb attack on their community, demanding protection against record levels of sectarian violence.

 

Demonstrators poured onto the streets across the country, shutting down the largest city Karachi and closing the road from the capital to Islamabad airport, in angry protest at Saturday s bombing that killed at least 90 people in Quetta.

 

Thousands of mostly women, but also men and children, blocked roads in various cities of the country including Lahore, Quetta and Karachi, vowing to continue their sit-in until the authorities take action against the extremists behind the attack which also wounded more than 200 people.

 

In Lahore, Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) also announced to continue sit-ins until until the demands of Quetta’s Hazara community are fulfilled. The protesters blocked the roads and halt Metro Bus Service in city.

 

 

The schedule of flights and trains have also been affecting, as the passengers could not reach the airport and railways stations due to road blockades and traffic hassles caused by the scores of continued sit-ins in different parts of the country.

 

In Islamabad, workers of Majlish-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen are continuing with their sit-in at Faizabad Interchange to express solidarity with the victims of Quetta tragedy. Commuters are facing great difficulties to reach their destination points in the city.

 

Pakistan Bar Council has also announced a 3-day mourning and one hour daily strike in protest against Quetta carnage.
