Summary Tahir Ashrafi insists on inclusion of Taliban in the negotiations.

 


ISLAMABAD: Two sessions of negotiations were held between Ulema of Pakistan and Afghanistan with the aim to pave the way for peace process in Afghanistan and to boost friendly relations between the two countries but during a press conference differences appeared between the Ulema.


Chairman all Pakistan Ulema Council Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi said that Ulema Council of Pakistan would not support any conference that would exclude Taliban from the negotiations.


He said that Taliban are a stakeholder therefore how can they be ignored in the negotiations for peace process.

“We want to end terrorism from every corner of the world especially Pakistan and Afghanistan and would support all kinds of peace negotiations.


Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi said that in the negotiations between Ulema of both countries certain changes have been made that are not acceptable to Ulema Council of Pakistan.


He said that during the negotiations it was decided that Conference would be held on March 10; however, at the time press conference new date has been announced that is not acceptable to Ulema Council of Pakistan.


Tahir Ashrafi said that if United States can negotiate with the Afghan Taliban then there why our government is not initiating peace negotiations with Taliban.


Earlier, Addressing the media men Mufti Abu Hurrira chairman Majlis Saat-Ul-Islam Pakistan said that during the negotiations with Afghan Ulema it has been decided that to expedite peace efforts.


A joint conference would be held in Kabul on Feb 21 in which 250 Ulema from both countries would participate.


He said that these efforts are on non-governmental levels just to assist the state in peace process. He said that conference would not be against anyone but just for peace.
