Summary ECP has announced that army would be deployed at polling booths in Karachi during general elections

 

ISLAMABAD: Talking to media after a meeting with the leaders of different political parties, Secretary Election Commission Ishtiaq Ahmad said that deployment of army at polling stations in Karachi was necessary to hold free and fair polls and personnel of Pakistan Army would be deputed at every polling station during the general elections.


He said that the Election Commission would perform its duties without any pressure.


Secretary ECP said that loan defaulters including evaders of utility bill would be barred from contesting elections and the State Bank of Pakistan has formulated mechanism in this regard.


He said that the returning officers would be informed about the defaulter.


Ishtiaq added that 80 % process of door to doo verification of voters had been completed the Election Commission would implement the ruling of the Supreme Court regarding delimitation of constituencies in Karachi.
