Summary SC Registrar Dr Faqir Hussain had refused to appear before Public Accounts Committee.
ISLAMABAD: A report regarding ‘contempt of parliament’ against Supreme Court registrar will be presented in the National Assembly today (Wednesday), Dunya News reported.
Chairman of Public Account Committee (PAC) will request the parliament to take necessary action against Supreme Court’s registrar Dr Faqir Hussain.
The SC registrar had refused to appear before PAC despite being summoned several times.
The apex court categorically asserted the parliamentary body has no constitutional authority to scrutinize the apex court’s accounts, as Article 175-3 of the Constitution separates the judiciary from the executive, and that the PAC can only scrutinize national accounts.
The statement also mentioned that it was issued after a full court meeting that decided that Registrar Supreme Court of Pakistan Dr Faqir Hussain will not appear before the PAC.
