LAHORE: Justice Mansoor Ali Shah of Lahore High Court LHC has remarked president can be impeached if the people want so.
He gave these remarks during the course of hearing of contempt of court plea in dual offices case against President Asif Ali Zardari here Wednesday. A 5-member LHC bench presided over by chief justice Omar Atta Bandial took up the case for hearing.
The court granted the plea from the counsel for the federation on advancing more arguments in the case.
Chief Justice LHC Omar Atta Bandial remarked he had no authority to nullify provisions of the constitution. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah observed people have to bring change in the law as they are supreme.
AK Dogar counsel for the petitioner argued the basic spirit of the law could not be changed even if people wanted so.
