Quetta: Govt-doctors deadlock persists; patients suffer

Summary Four doctors have been abducted during the last six months in Quetta.


QUETTA: Patients across Balochistan are suffering as doctors of all government-run hospitals of the province continued strike on 56th consecutive day against abductions, Dunya News reported on Thursday.

 

In the most recent incident of abduction during the last six months, Dr Abdul Aziz, working for the Helper Hospital, was kidnapped by unidentified armed men from the Sariab road on Tuesday.

 

On the call of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), Balochistan chapter, the outdoor-patient departments (OPDs) and operations theatres remained closed in all public hospitals including Bolan Medical Complex hospital, Sandeman Provincial hospital, Fatima Jinnah hospital and others against frequent abductions of doctors.

 

The patients have started urging the provincial government to resolve the matter while condemn the law enforcement agencies for their failure to give protection to public lives and properties. They have also requested the doctors’ fraternity not to penalize the poor patients.

 

Meanwhile, the PMA has vowed to continue their strike till the fulfillment of their demands besides the recovery of Dr Abdul Aziz.
