The National Assembly Standing Committee on Petroleum has recommended imposing equal tax on all sectors in order to provide maximum relief to the consumers.
Meeting of the National Assembly Sub-committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources held in the parliament house with Jamshed Dasti in the chair expressed annoyance over the closure of CNG stations in the country which are creating inconvenience for the consumers.
During the meeting both stake holders including all Pakistan CNG association and Oil and Gas Regulatory presented their views over the CNG price and CNG association emphasized on Parliamentarians to remove extra taxes on CNG and called for end of discriminatory attitude towards CNG sector.
Chairman OGRA told the committee that cost of Gas for CNG sector is Rs 31.9, GIDC is Rs 13.25 per kg and Operation cost is Rs 13.33 while Rs 4.55 per kg margin has been given to the CNG sector.
Chairman OGRA Saeed Khan suggested that CNG should be used only for public transport and small vehicles and it should be banned for luxurious cars. He said that mechanism should be evolved to gradually phase out CNG from luxurious cars.
Legislative body was also annoyed over the incidents of oil theft from Parco pipelines and said that people are involved in billion rupees of oil theft and PSO and Parco both stake holders are mum over the situation while the ministry of petroleum is also silent over the issue.
Convener Jamshed Dasti said that during last four years more than forty billion rupees oil went missing from the pipelines of Parco and people of Parco and police are involved in it.
He said that committee would forward this issue to National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Committee also directed Inspector General Punjab to hold thoroughly inquiry over the issue, fix responsibility without any discrimination and take strict action.
SHO of the area told that according to FIR registered by PSO 1.6 million liter oil was misplaced from system.
Jamshed Dasti said that chief security officers of PSO are also involved in oil theft and directed officials of PSO to keep check on security officers.
Committee recommended petroleum ministry to remove MD PSO Naeem Yahya who has not respect for committee and failed to present in the meetings.
Sub-committee also directed PSO to open 400 CNG stations which were sealed for violation for violation of sanctioned load of gas. Committee directed SNGPL to give details of total development funds and also to give complete that how much amount is being spent in different constituencies.
