Summary NAB seems to be saving the skins of real’ characters’, SC says while hearing NRO case.

A five-member apex court bench headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali observed while hearing the NRO verdict implementation case.

“How could those who appointed Ahmed Riaz Sheikh and Adnan Khwaja be not responsible,” the court observed.

Adnan Khwaja,s attorney Dr Basit said High Court had suspended Adnan Khwaja’s conviction, and hence the impression that the accused was convicted was not right.

He admitted it was a mistake to appoint Adnan Khwaja as the MD OGDC but it was rectified within 4 days. The accused never went to his office and received no perks, Basit added.

Prosecutor General NAB KK Agha said they investigated and sent references against three people including Ismael Qurashi which the registrar sent back with objections.

Justice Arif Khilji said PM Gillani benefitted a convict by using his authority.

“Yousaf Raza Gillani and Adnan Kawaja have been in jail together, how come he did not know that Adnan was a convicted person,” Justice Khilji said.

He action must also be taken against the appointing authority (the then PM).

In his remarks Justice Anwar Zaheer there were some behind-the-scene characters in the NAB reference.

He said now when the government has now disowned the letter written by Malik Qayum why NAB should not file a reference against him.

The hearing of the case was postponed till December 4.
