Summary The Planning Commission has declared the Thar coal power generation project impracticable.
Member Commission Shahid Sattar said Satuday that more amount is required for implementation on the project.Addressing International Conference in Islamabad, Shahid Sattar said the project of power generation out of gasification was impracticable and power generation was possible only by coal-mining.He said the project of 10 MW could not be made enhanced.He said that a projection of gasification is being run in Australia but that is likely to be closed.The import of LNG is no solution to the energy crisis as it would only multiply the prices, he said.
