Summary Zahid Bukhari, counsel for Husain Haqqani, concluded his arguments on Friday.

Giving his view on the controversy, Haqqanis counselsaid he did not need to prove anything beyond saying that he (Hussain Haqqani) had nothing to do with the memo.He dispelled the false impression regarding Haqqani’s reluctance to return and stated no negative inference should be drawn from it as Haqqani left with prior permission of the Supreme Court. It is pertinent to mention here though the Commission has not accepted his pleas, Haqqani remains willing to record statement by video-conference and not taking his evidence is the Commission’s decision.Bukhari prayed the Commission should exclude all electronic evidence (emails, Blackberry messages etc.) offered by Mansoor Ijaz that have not been subjected to forensic examination.Highlighting Haqqani’s plight, the counsel said he was put into such position by Mansoor Ijaz’s false claims.Expressing his views on the purpose of sending the memo, He said Mansoor Ijaz has been established as a publicity- seeker. The Commission, which began investigation into memo scandal on January 2, will now forward its report to Supreme Court of Pakistan.
