Summary Earlier, government issued a notification to apply new electricity tariff from today.
According to sources, the notification to increase power tariff by 12% was put on hold for a day after Finance MInister Abdul Hafeez Sheikh summoned a meeting in Islamabad.According to notification, power tariff will go up by Rs 1.22 per unit against fuel consumption for power generation.After the increase, electricity tariff will reach Rs 8.72 from previous Rs 7.84 per unit data.According to authorities, the decision is being taken due to price hike in Furnace Oil in international market, however, consumers with hundred units will remain exceptional to the new power tariff.
