Summary Shortfall of electricity has reached 5,500 megawatt in the country.
According to PEPCO spokesman, total power generation has reached to 15,000 megawatts however the demand is 9,500 megawatts.IPPs are generating 5,115 megawatts and thermal plants are providing 1,422 megawatts of electricity. However, the hydel power generation has restrained to 2,957 megawatts.The spokesman further said that decrease in production is due to shortage of gas and oil supply.The people are facing at least 12 to 14 hours loadshedding in urban areas and 16 to 18 hours in rural areas.
