Summary Hazara Democratic Party called for strike to condemn target killings in Quetta.

A complete shutter down strike is being observed in the provincial capital on a call given by the Hazara Democratic Party against recent target killings.On Saturday, at least ten people were gunned down in three separate incidents in the city.The first gruesome incident took place on Brewery Road where a group of armed men ambushed a car carrying people from the Hazara community killing all six on the spot. However, the assailants managed to flee from the scene.Soon after the first incident, unidentified armed men opened fire at two more people of Hazara community on Sabzal Road.Separately, a police constable was gunned down in Shal Kot area, on the outskirts of Quetta, in an apparent incident of targeted killing.The Quetta roads immediately wore deserted look when infuriated protestors blocked different streets and torched a vehicle. The administration called in ten platoons of paramilitary Frontier Corps to control the situation.Following strike call by Hazara Democratic Party, most of the streets in the provincial capital were deserted, educational institutes and markets were closed.Large contingents of police and other law enforcement agencies had been deployed on the roads to avert any unpleasant incident.
