President calls for economic ties between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia

Summary Saudi Vice Foreign Minister on Tuesday called on President Asif Ali Zardari and PM Gilani.

President Asif Ali Zardari said that there exists huge potential of trade and economic activities between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.He said that for tapping this enormous potential it was important that the existing mechanisms such as Joint Ministerial Commission and the Joint Business Council are fully utilized.Finalization of Bilateral Investment treaty would also go a long way to boost the bilateral economic relations, the President said.He said this during his meeting with Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz here at Aiwan-e-Sadr.Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz was accompanied by Dr. Abdul Aziz bin Ibrahim Al-Ghadeer, Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan, Faisal Hashmim, Assistant Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs and other officials.PM Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said a delegation of Pakistani businessmen would visit Saudi Arabia soon to explore new vistas for enhancing trade relations between the two countries.He was talking to Prince Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia here at the PM House.They discussed a range of bilateral relations between the two countries. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the strong brotherly relations between the two countries and hoped that the Deputy Foreign Minister’s visit to Pakistan would further bolster existing relations in the future.
