Summary Government has announced to partially withdraw recent raise in fuel prices.

Petroleum Minister Asim Hussain said that petroleum prices would be decreased by Rs 2 to Rs 3 per litre, though he would not give a timeframe.The minister said that the government wants to give relief to the masses but is facing several constraints. He said the summary of reduction in petroleum levy has been sent to the prime minister.On the other hand, the price of LPG has been decreased by Rs 10 per kg.None the less, no announcement has been made about cut in CNG prices. The CNG Association has already announced countrywide indefinite strike.The public have expressed resentment on the government’s announcement of meager withdrawal in POL prices. Majority said that the government should at least reverse the POL price hike fully.The meager cut has been announced on tremendous pressure from the public, as protests have been continuing in several parts of the country, including Punjab.Earlier, All Pakistan CNG Associations Monday announced strike for indefinite period.Addressing a news conference, Chairman All Pakistan CNG Associations Ghayas Paracha condemned the government for “unjust and illegitimate” increase in fuel prices.Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Sunday raised petrol prices by up to 8.2 percent, contrary to the advice to keep prices unchanged.On the other hand, commuters, transporters, traders and politicians Monday rejected the government’s expected decision of meager reduction in petrol prices.
