Summary Interior Minister Rehman Malik has ordered all parties to remove their flags all across Karachi.

The federal interior minister also ordered the Sindh government to ensure that all hate graffiti is also removed.The minister said the powers of police and Rangers have been fully restored.A high-level meeting was held at the Sindh Chief Minister’s House, attended by senior officials including Provincial Home Minister Mansoor Wasan, the DG Rangers and the IG Sindh Police.The meeting reviewed the law and order incidents over the last four days in Karachi.Rehman Malik and CM Qaim Ali Shah ordered police and Rangers to take all necessary steps to restore peace in the city.Earlier, Malik visited various areas of the city, including Kati Pahari, and heard the grievance of the residents.He mingled with the residents and spent time with the citizens, had food with them and heard their complaints.Meanwhile, police and Rangers conducted raids in Banaras, Qasba Colony, Bukhari Colony and Orangi Town areas of the city, arresting at least two dozen suspects.Talking to media later, Malik said “whether political parties or anyone else is involved in triggering hatred among people will be punished”.He claimed anti-state elements were using Karachi’s as a ‘weapon’, and that a ‘third power’ was pitting politicians against each other in Karachi.Malik said that Rangers and police had been directed to take strict action against the criminals, adding that intelligence network had also been increase in tense areas like Orangi, Banaras and Kati Pahari.Malik said that peace force of youth would be formed in affected areas which would work with police for the restoration of peace. He said that he would also meet traders in the city.
