Summary Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani says no new tax will be introduced in the upcoming budget.
Speaking in the PTV programme Prime Minister Online ‚ he said efforts will be made to create more jobs.To a question about the energy crisis‚ the prime minister said the incumbent government had inherited the shortfall but his government was taking steps to improve the situation.He said the electricity crisis erupted due to the wrong policies of the previous governments. Particularly‚ Musharraf regime did nothing for the energy sector.About the protests over power outages in Punjab‚ Prime Minister Gilani ruled out any discriminatory treatment being meted out to any part of the country. He regretted that the federal government is being blamed though all provinces are fully empowered to generate power on their own.About the gas shortage‚ he said natural gas will be imported from Qatar to meet the demand. The prime minister said the government has started long and short range plans in the energy sector. He pointed out that during his recent visit to Seoul to attend the nuclear security summit‚ he had invited the South Korean investors to invest in sector in Pakistan.
