Summary Justice Shakirullah Jan has been appointed as an acting Chief Election Commissioner.
Sources said that Chief justice iftikhar Muhammad chaudhry has appointed Justice Shakirullah Jan under Article 217.According to the Supreme Court, present Chief Election Commissioner Hamid Ali Mirza would get retired on March 23.Chief justice iftikhar Muhammad chaudhry said that when Chief Election Commissioner is elected, the nomination of acting one would automatically end.
