Summary PM Gilani says decision about next elections would be taken in consultations with allies.
Talking to the media, PM Gilani said nobody needs to worry since the media and the judiciary is free in the country as well as there is political stability.He said neither did Nato supply was shut on someone’s call nor would it be opened on someone’s prodding. “The Parliament has the final say on this,” he added.The PM said local election is purely a provincial matter warranting no federal intrusion on the subject.Separately, the outgoing Chief Election Commissioner Justice (Rtd) Hamid Ali Mirza and Secretary Election Commission Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan called on Prime Minister Gilani at Prime Minister’s House.The Prime Minister appreciated the services of outgoing Chief Election Commissioner in holding free, fair and transparent elections in the country.The Prime Minister particularly mentioned the role of Election Commission during his tenure to improve the electoral process and also substantial progress made in preparing authentic electoral lists through the use of state of art technology.
