Summary PM Gilani has said the people want establishment of Saraiki Province that is their right and demand
Addressing a public gathering in Mailsi on Thursday, Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said that creation of new provine in Punjab will enhance process of development in Saraiki belt. He said people want Saraiki province and it is our right and demand.The PM said that PPP chairman Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was hanged but he did not compromised against democracy and public interests and his ideology cannot be defeated.He said the PPP has a commitment to serve the masess at all costs and even its leaders Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhatto and Mohtarma Benazir Bhatto embraced martyrdom while protecting the rights of the poor.The Prime Minister said the constitution provides full immunity to the President during his tenure and it is not possible to write a letter to any foreign government to peruse a case against the President.He said writing letter against the President will be deemed as violation of constitution which can lead a criminal trial against him under article six of the constitution that can result in death sentence.On the other hand‚ he said not writing a letter will be contempt of court that provides maximum imprisonment of six month. Therefore‚ the Prime Minister said it will be better to face contempt of court instead of violating the constitution.Earlier, the Prime Minister also addressed the fifth convocation of Islamia University Bahawalpur and later laid down the foundation stone of the Bahawalpur University College of Agriculture and the Environmental Sciences block which will be completed at a cost of four hundred and twenty million rupees.
