Three-member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan led by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is hearing the petition of Imran Khan regarding voters lists.Secretary election commission submitted letter written to the prime minister. On which, the chief justice, while expressing displeasure, said that you disregarded whole the judiciary.Your resignation may be good for the prime minister but Supreme Court will look into the matter according to law and the constitution, the chief justice said.The chief justice, in his remarks, said that three members of election commission said that secretary kept them in dark about the electoral rolls.Justice Tariq Pervez inquired secretary election commission that why did to write to the prime minister.The secretary, in reply, told the court that I respect the judiciary and cannot think even to defame the honourable apex court.He said that election commission is bound to act upon the legal and constitutional orders of the Supreme Court.Eleven out of fourteen political parties agreed that voter list should not be prepared under compulsion, the secretary said. The chief justice asked that which political party used the word compulsion. On which, the secretary said that he believed Maulana Fazlur Rehman used the word compulsion.The chief justice said that it a serious matter and everybody has the right of expression but within limits.The CJ said that what will happen when no transparent election will be held. It is the second constitutional petition regarding electoral rolls after Mubashir Luqmans’s plea, the court said.
