HIV surge among children in Sindh raises alarm as 329 cases reported

KARACHI (Dunya News) - The spread of HIV among children in Sindh continues to raise serious concern, with 329 children reported infected so far this year.

According to officials, the province is witnessing a steady increase in pediatric HIV cases. Data reveals that among the affected children, 188 are boys and 141 are girls.

Health experts have warned that, on average, 3 to 4 new HIV cases are being detected in children every day in Sindh, indicating an alarming trend.

Further statistics shared by the health department show that a total of 894 HIV cases were reported across Sindh during the first three months of 2026. This includes 294 cases in January, 324 in February, and 276 in March.

Experts stress the urgent need for improved screening, awareness, and preventive measures to control the spread of the virus, particularly among vulnerable populations.
