PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Trans Peshawar has dismissed viral social media videos alleging the theft or illegal transfer of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses in Peshawar, clarifying that the footage actually shows the arrival of newly purchased buses for the service.
According to Trans Peshawar officials, two videos circulating on social media have misrepresented the transportation of buses as theft or illegal transfer.
The officials explained that the videos show new buses purchased for the Peshawar BRT system in 2026.
Officials said the video showing buses being transported at night dates back to August 2026, while the daytime footage is from October 2026. Both videos document the arrival of new buses procured for the BRT service.
Trans Peshawar said a total of 52 new buses have been purchased this year. Of these, 25 have already arrived in Peshawar, while the remaining 27 are scheduled to be transferred to the city this week.
With the addition of the new buses, the total fleet of the Peshawar BRT service is expected to reach 296, improving bus availability and helping meet passengers' transportation needs.
The authority urged the public not to misinterpret the viral footage, reiterating that the videos are related to the transportation of newly purchased buses and not to any theft or illegal transfer.
