Summary Designer Peter Pilotto previewed an impressive collection of brightly colored dresses.

Many of the dresses were with Asian flair at London Fashion Week on Monday.Pilotto and partner Christopher De Vos are known for their printmaking expertise and imaginative use of color traits on display at their catwalk show, which opened the fourth day of a packed fashion week. The designers added flair and sex appeal, with a number of slim-cut dresses with cutout bodices, and through the use of revealing mesh panels. There was also ample use of crisscross panel tops that gave outfits structure while adding to the drama. Some of the inspiration came from Japanese light trucks, which are decorated with thousands of lights, and from Chinese opera mask makeup. The up-and-coming design duo, who won the British Fashion Councils Best Emerging Talent Award in 2009, drew fashion luminaries to the morning show, including Anna Wintour, editor of the influential American edition of Vogue.Pilotto made extensive uses of bright colors using blues, yellows and greens on a black base as the primary color scheme for many of the outfits, some of which were set off by silver fox fur scarves. He also used arm warmers unusual pieces that looked at first like gloves but actually ended just before the wrist, leaving the hands uncovered. They were particularly striking in dark blue when worn with a matching dress. The designers also introduced a new three dimensional effect relying on embroidery and beading, with sequins applied by hand on several high-neck, floor-length gowns.Pilotto will be followed by some of fashions biggest luminaries, including Christopher Kane, Burberry and McQ, and an offering from the house of the late Alexander McQueen, with designs by Sarah Burton.Burberry Prorsum, with creative director Christopher Bailey, is usually one of the most sought after shows, with many celebrities vying for front-row seats. There is also much anticipation about the launch of the McQ line.Other top designers with upcoming shows are Erdem, Giles and Osman.Earlier shows have been well attended and helped by the rare sunny weather in London.
