Summary Mariyam Nafees said it is unfair to place the entire burden of household responsibilities on daughters-in-law

(Web Desk) - Pakistani actress Mariyam Nafees has said that many domestic conflicts arise because mothers-in-law often believe they are always right and tend to view daughters-in-law as incapable of handling responsibilities.

Speaking in an interview, she openly shared her views on family dynamics and the traditional mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship, saying such attitudes frequently lead to household tensions.

She said it is unfair to place the entire burden of household responsibilities on daughters-in-law, adding that Islamic teachings also encourage married children to live independent lives after marriage.

The actress further said that although her son, Isa, is still an infant, she is already mentally preparing to allow him to live separately after marriage so that he can build an independent household.

Nafees also added that in families where financial constraints do not allow separate living arrangements, daughters-in-law should still be given adequate space and autonomy within the home, including independence in managing their kitchen.

Mariyam Nafees is married to film director Amaan Ahmed and the couple have one child.
