A memorial prayer meet was held in Indias western Mumbai city for legendary Bollywood actor Dev Anand, who passed away recently in London.The prayer meet was held in the citys Mehboob Studio where Anand had shot many of his films.Anands ashes were immersed after his funeral in London, at a sacred pond by the side of the Godavari river in Maharashtra state.A large number of Bollywood actors and actresses turned up at the meet to pay their homage to the departed legend. One of the visiting actors was Aamir Khan, who said that his death is a great loss to Bollywood and film lovers.Dev Saab was a legend of our time. His work will always remain alive among us, the way he entertained us, the way he made every person of the audience happy, everyone will remember him fondly. We will always have love and respect for him. He was a charismatic personality and it was a sad day for all of us when he passed away, he said.Also commenting on his death was acclaimed film director Shekhar Kapur who was also Anands nephew. Here he also expressed his disappointment at not being able to attend Anands funeral in London.Well he was my uncle, he was a part of my family. So as we remember a very close family member, I will always remember him. It was a very last minute decision (regarding the funeral) on the familys part. So many of us could not make it on time, he said.Veteran Bollywood actress Simi Garewal stated that it was emotional for her to attend Anands memorial service as she had shot her first film with him at Mehboob Studio.I had my first shot with Dev Saab at this Mehboob Studio, in the film Teen Deviya. So it is very emotional for me to come here and attend his memorial service here. I feel very sad about it. Life is very strange, it is very difficult to understand, she said.The actors was in England for a routine health check-up and passed away after suffering a massive cardiac in the early hours of Sunday (December 04) at the Washington Mayfair Hotel in London. He was 88.The actor was nicknamed as the Evergreen Hero of Hindi films for the kind of romantic roles he essayed.
