Summary The new James Bond film Skyfall will hit the US cinemas in 2012.
The announcement was made at a launch in London attended by leading members of the cast including 007 himself, Daniel Craig.Producer Michael G. Wilson described the title of the film as being the the worst kept secret in London.Skyfall will be the third Bond film to star Craig as the secret agent and filming on it begins today.Craig said: In doing a third one... it was my intention to make the best Bond movie that we possibly could and Bond with a capital B - and I am just incredibly proud to be part of this group of people. He added: Weve got a great script.Dame Judi Dench will resume her role as M, while Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem will take on the role of the villain.The films director, Sam Mendes, revealed that Ralph Fiennes, Ben Wishaw and Albert Finney would all be part of the cast but could not disclose their characters. British actress Naomie Harris will also star as well as the relatively unknown French actress Berenice Marlohe.Mendes said he took on the 23rd Bond film because he wanted a huge challenge and had always been a huge fan of the films. He revealed they would be shooting much of the film in Whitehall, close to where the announcement was made.Pinewood studios will be used as well but Bonds adventure will also take him to Shanghai, Istanbul and Scotland. Mendes promised that contrary to rumours there would be a lot of action.Skyfall will open in cinemas in October next year - 50 years after the very first Bond film, Dr No, was released.
