Hundreds of people gathered in the movie premiere of in one of Taiwans most expensive films, ‘Warriors of the Rainbow’. The islands award winning director Wei Te-sheng directed the 700 million Taiwan dollars (about 24 million US dollars).The movie bases on true story of an uprising by indigenous people in Taiwan against Japanese rulers in the 1930s.Wei won directors award in 2008 for his movie Cape No.7, a low-key comedy packed with a colourful local cast that broke the local market by storm breaking box office record.But making of the movie came a long way, Wei added.Im very grateful, all the process and stimulation help us making a movie and a story of we movie makers. I hope people can enjoy this movie, he told reporters.The films original set was completely destroyed after a massive typhoon Morakot swept through Taiwan in 2009, soaring the cost to almost triple from the original estimate.The two-and-a-half-hour movie opens in Taiwanese cinemas on September 12.It is also scheduled to be released European screens, including the UK and France.
