Summary Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth bring a double dose of superhero power on the set of The Avengers.
There were not one but two superheroes fighting their way down the streets of a mock New York on the set of The Avengers.Chris Evans, as Captain America, and Chris Hemsworth, as Thor, were united on the Ohio set - which had been done up to look like the Big Apple, for the first time today as filming on the Marvel Comics film continued. There were dramatic scenes as the duo fought off an attack of alien soldiers on a remodelled 4nd Street, which was strewn with debris and billowing with black smoke. Both were in full costume, with Evans, 30, in the iconic red and blue Captain America attire and Australian star Hemsworth, 28, back in his God of Thunder ensemble. The two actors have appeared in the respective films in the Marvel Comics franchise and are now crossing paths for The Avengers. The cast also includes Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man), Scarlett Johansson (spy Natasha Romanoff), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and more as they continue shooting. On set today, Hemsworth and Evans appeared to be having a great time getting into character and were seen laughing in between takes. At one points Evans was seen being tended to by a stylist as she prepared him to face the cameras. The alien characters were stunt actors dressed in grey suits, which will be transformed by the power of computer wizardry once the movie gets to the editing stage.
