Bollywood director Prakash Jha moved to Indian court to seek direction to lift the ban imposed on the release of his controversial movie Aarakshan in northern states of Punjab and Uttar Pradesh and southern Andhra Pradesh, and the apex court will hear the petition on August 16.“The matter has come on general list and will be heard by the court (Supreme Court) on Tuesday (August 16). Due to the long weekend of Saturday, Sunday and Monday, the ban on movie in three states (Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh) will impact the release of the film and I believe, accept these three states, the film hit screens successfully today and no untoward news have been reported from any place as yet, Jha told reporters outside the Supreme Court in New Delhi.The movie ‘Aarakshan’, which was released on Friday (Aug 12) in other parts of India portrays the issue of caste-based reservation system prevalent in educational institutions across the country.
