Summary Two people sustained minor injuries when an elephant lost control and tried to knock down another elephant during a race held as part of the annual temple festival in Guruvayur in India's southern Kerala state.
The elephant, Shri Krishnan, was soon brought under control by his mahout. At least 36 elephants took part in the race. The elephant race is a practice dating back centuries, and is held every year during the annual temple festival.
