Summary The Hindi film industry has never seen anyone quite as graceful and charming as the effervescent Madhubala. In her short, but momentous film career, she worked with the very best in the industry and became the darling of the masses. Madhubalas fans all over the world remember her most magnetic personality today and celebrate the life of this legendary actress on her 78th birth anniversary.
Madhubalas big break was Neel Kamal (1947), in which she debuted along with another future superstar of the generation, Raj Kapoor. But the biggest feather in Madhubalas cap was undoubtedly K Asifs magnum opus Mughal e Azam. She starred alongside her then real life lover, Dilip Kumar, in the doomed saga of Salim and Anarkali which went to become one of the highest grossing Hindi films of the time. Madhubala elapsed into sickness while her directorial debut was still in the pre production phase. She ultimately succumbed to her illness shortly after her 36th birthday.
