Summary

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone said that dieting is not about starving, or stopping oneself from eating what they crave. Rather, dieting is about eating the things that suit one's body, she said, at the launch of a book and DVD called 'Jaldi Fit' by fitness expert Namita Jain, on Wednesday in India's entertainment capital in Mumbai. A lot of people think that dieting is about starving yourself. No, it's not. Dieting is about eating correctly and eating what suits your body. So, again, like I said, understand what your body requirements are. Understand what suits your body and follow that. Dieting is not about starving yourself or stopping yourself from what you crave to eat. No said Padukone. The actress talked about her fitness regimen, and said she prefers yoga to working out in the closed atmosphere of a gymnasium, surrounded by people. When people say they do hundred Suryanamaskars (Yoga exercise) a day, I think they are lying because if you really do it correctly, if you are following the right technique and if you are also practicing the breathing at the same time, it's very, very difficult. Even, I think, even 10 to 15 would be very difficult to do, I think, asserted Padukone. She added that fitness is something that one does for oneself, and that the combination of the right food with right workout is the key to fitness. Bollywood actresses and fitness pitches are becoming more and more closely linked now. Bollywood divas Shilpa Shetty and Bipasha Basu launched their fitness and yoga DVDs, while Kareena Kapoor launched her nutritionist's book on dietary habits, and even wrote its foreword. Actress Lara Dutta is also planning to bring out a line of fitness apparel and workout DVDs. Padukone was a state-level badminton player and model before joining Bollywood.
