Joey Jaws Chestnut successfully defended his competitive eating title on Sunday, after gobbling up 54 hot dogs and buns in ten minutes.It is the fourth consecutive time the 26-year-old Californian has won the Nathan's Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, New York. It is one of the most prestigious of its kind in the world of competitive eating. Under the blazing sun and the watchful eyes of thousands of fans, 16 competitive eaters from all over the world vied for the mustard-yellow Champion's belt and a cash prize. Being a crowd favorite and the number one competitive eater in the world according to Major League Eating, the pressure was on Chestnut to better his own world-record set in 2009, when he managed to eat 68 hot dogs in the same ten minute time frame. Nathan's Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest was first held in 1919.
