Summary
One of the biggest live music events on the annual pop calendar Glastonbury Music Festival is celebrating it's 40th birthday. More than 170,000 people are expected to descend upon the southwest England site for the weekend festival. The world's largest open-air music and performing arts event has become famous for attracting a diverse mix of the biggest names in music as well as supporting and promoting smaller independent artists. David Bowie, Radiohead, Neil Diamond, Coldplay, Jay-Z, Amy Winehouse, Black Eyed Peas and Paul McCartney are among just a few of the names on a long list of star performers and legends who have played Glastonbury over the years. U2 were to have been the headline act on the main stage at this year's festival, but their appearance had to be cancelled after lead singer Bono suffered a serious back injury.
