Summary

It's summer, the time when some of the music industry's biggest and brightest stars pack up the tour bus and hit the road. While that's not untrue this season, the summer concert line-up is being plagued with low ticket sales and the postponement of some major acts. Irish rockers U2 were supposed to travel through North America on their 360 tour. However, lead singer Bono is recovering from emergency back surgery, forcing the postponement of their 16 US stadium dates. And a much anticipated tour from Christina Aguilera has been delayed. The pop star was due to hit stadiums to promote her upcoming album, Bionic. The tour has been postponed an entire year so that she can concentrate on an upcoming movie - however, the timing of the announcement has some experts saying that low ticket sales could be to blame. Low ticket sales are affecting most everyone this summer, but a few music acts are having no problem at all. Lady Gaga has been selling out venues literally minutes after tickets go on sale. And Bon Jovi has already played to sold out audiences at a New Jersey stadium. They'll spend the summer on the road throughout the U.S. and Europe, including a 12 day residency at London's O2 arena. Having just finished a run through Latin America, Aerosmith will travel North America and play 18 summer tour dates with its Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock show.Rihanna is currently wrapping up the international leg of her tour and will soon head out to see her American fans. In addition to her own tour, she'll also meet up with Sarah McLachlan for the revamped version of Lilith Fair. The 2010 version will have a rotating group of artists including Mary J. Blige and Sheryl Crowe. Carrie Underwood has become a non-stop road warrior. Her current spring tour will keep on right through the summer. And with no school to interfere, summer is also a hot time for teen acts. Justin Bieber has a rigorous touring and the Jonas Brothers will crisscross the U.S. from July through October.
