Summary The vice-chancellors of all the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa universities have demanded release of funds.
The vice-chancellors of the public sector universities have asked the federal government to have a meeting with them to resolve the issue of non-release of funds to the high seats of learning, it was learnt.The demand was made at a meeting of the vice-chancellors of all the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa public sector universities held at the Agricultural University, Peshawar. It was decided to have a meeting with teachers association and presidents and general secretaries of other associations on Sept 17 in the University of Peshawar to brief them about the financial situation of the universities.The vice-chancellors discussed the financial deficit of the universities. They said there was severe pressure on the budgets of the universities due to non-release of funds. It was pointed out that despite the federal government assurance no developmental or recurring fund had been released to the universities thus far.They said the government had not yet provided funds for the previous increases in salaries. They said the educational progress of the universities would be at stake if funds werent immediately released.
