Summary Chairman NAVTTC Mumtaz Kahloon has said technical education is necessary to boost economic growth.

Technical education is very important and good results could be achieved by imparting technical education to those youth who couldn’t get formal education in schools or colleges.Muhammad Mumtaz Akhtar Kahloon, Chairman, National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) said this during a meeting with Yassar Sakhi Butt, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI).Chairman NAVTTC said that NAVTTC is working on national policies, strategies and regulations, National Qualification Framework (NQF), accreditation, certification, skill standards & curricula, Performance Evaluation System, TVET Development through Public-Private Partnership and Labour Market Information System. He said that the government has approved the budget of Rs.350 million for new projects of skill development.He said that currently we are focusing on Balochistan and have given them 32 per cent quota because this is the most neglected area and there is need to educate their youth. Chairman NAVTTC said that Netherlands, Republic of Germany and European Union have also agreed to extend a grant of 63 Million Euros for imparting technical and vocational training to jobless youth of Pakistan.Speaking on the occasion, Yassar Sakhi Butt appreciated the efforts of NAVTTC for regulating, facilitating and providing policy direction in Vocational and Technical Training.
