Summary The minister claimed that funds allocated for education will be doubled in the new budget.

Sindh Senior Minister for Education & Literacy Pir Mazharul Haq said on Thursday that budget for education has been doubled from Rs7 billion to Rs15.5 billion in the next fiscal year.Pir Mazhar said that increase in budget was aimed at promoting education in every nook and corner of the province.He was laying the foundation stone of the Education Complex here on Thursday.The building would be constructed at a cost of about Rs. 188 million and would be completed by June 2015 and will house the Departments offices including those of Sindh Textbook Board, Sindh Education Foundation.He also informed that 22 schools of the Lyari Expressway project which were shut owing to non-availability of funds, have been taken over by the Education Department and would be made operational and academic activities would start there in June.For the promotion of education, we were establishing an education city and an education complex which would have all modern facilities, he added.
