Summary The 11th convocation of University of Central Punjab held in Lahore on Tuesday.
Addressing the convocation, Chief Guest PM Yousaf Raza Gilani urged the universities to serve as the hub of knowledge and creator of innovative ideas offering solutions to the existing problems. He said he has always extended support to the education sector and his visit to the educational institutions is reflective of that policy. The students are our future leaders who possess all the dynamism and enduring spirit to excel in all fields of life.Gilani said education and democracy are integral to each other as it allows people space for making informed and intelligent choices. He said the democracy is the best form of governance for multi ethnic‚ linguistic and pluralist societies like Pakistan as it encourages participatory arrangement and accommodates opposing views.Referring to the challenges of extremism and terrorism‚ the prime minister said the leadership of the country requires support to address these menaces as there are no magic solutions to them. He appealed to the people to have trust in the democratic dispensation for the resolution of their problems.
