LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab police have arrested 26,267 drug dealers after registering 25,243 cases as part of an ongoing anti-narcotics campaign across the province this year.
According to a Punjab police spokesperson, authorities seized 13,324 kilograms of hashish (charas), 1,251 kilograms of heroin, 870 kilograms of crystal meth (ice), 557 kilograms of opium, and more than 379,000 litres of illicit liquor during the operations.
In Lahore, police registered 3,631 cases and arrested 3,746 suspected drug dealers. The recovered narcotics included 1,345 kilograms of hashish, 88 kilograms of heroin, 367 kilograms of crystal meth, 37 kilograms of opium, and 17,541 litres of illicit liquor.
Inspector General of Punjab police Abdul Karim directed law enforcement officials to ensure that all individuals involved in the drug supply chain are brought to justice and receive strict punishment under the law. He also instructed police to intensify operations against drug dealers operating in and around educational institutions and student hostels to curb the spread of narcotics.
