Eight drug traffickers, one robber killed during CCD 'encounters' in Punjab cities

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Eight drug peddlers and a robber were killed on Sunday night after police stepped up action against drug traffickers across Punjab in order to curb the menace of drugs in the province, Dunya News reported.
Operations were carried out in Bahawalpur, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Gujrat, Gujranwala and Hafizabad. According to Crime Control Department (CCD) police, the raids were conducted on information that the drug peddlers were active in selling contrabands, ice and other drugs in their areas.
When police reached their hiding places, they opened fire on law enforcers, who retaliated in their defence. As a result of these ‘encounters’, eight drug peddlers were killed.
Police officials have said actions against criminals will continue to bring them to justice.
