Summary Award-winning Pakistani cyclist Samar Khan harassed on Islamabad road
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Award-winning Pakistani cyclist, Samar Khan, has revealed that she was harassed by an unidentified biker while cycling on the road of Islamabad.
In a video on social-networking website Facebook, the athlete termed cycling for women in Pakistan ‘not safe’ at all. “I tried to follow the man but could not catch him as I was on a cycle and he was riding a motorbike,” she told.
Samar further described that the man was wearing a maroon shirt, and carrying a bag.
The cyclist, while mentioning that she does not want to blame anyone for the incident neither men nor the government, said that at the time of mishap there were other people driving on the road but they chose to ignore the incident.
Following the incident, Superintendent of Police (SP) and Station House Officer (SHO) have contacted the victim and obtained complete details from her.
The sources told that the security personnel are investigating the matter with the help of CCTV footage.
The mishap took place days after mother of two children was looted and raped at gunpoint on motorway near Gujjarpura area of the Punjab metropolis.
Sana was reportedly travelling in a car along with her two children when some unknown accused overpowered her. After raping and robbing the victim of valuables and cash (1 lakh), the suspects escaped from the scene.
