LAHORE (Dunya News ) - The administration of Punjab has failed to control crime rate in the province as govt putting more effort in the transfer of IG and other officials.

In two months killing, dacoity and theft incidents have increased by 25 % in the province. Despite the incidents of car and bike thefts along with other street crimes, govt is chanting the slogan of all is well.

During the first two months of current year crime rate increased by 25 % in the province. A total of 79,222 cases were registered in January and February this year while 66,613 cases were registered during the same period in 2018.

At least 10 percent more crime rate is observed in the province. First two months of 2019 witnessed 534 killing incidents. Challan were completed for 246 cases, 179 are under investigation while 9 cases were revoked. Last year 525 cases were registered during the same period.
14 cases of kidnapping were registered in this year. 6 are under investigation while one was canceled.

In first two months of last year, 2 cases of kidnapping were registered. 129 cases of dacoity were registered in 2019 while in last year 122 cases were registered.

Last year 427 cases of rape were registered which increased to 480 this year. 2518 cases of snatching were registered this year.
Car and motocycle theft cases were at 2425 last year while they were 3407 this year. Likewise 529 Car and bike snatching incidents were reported in 2019 while 440 were reported last year.

The situation in provincial capital is not better even and street crime is common. The crime rate has witnessed an increase but DIG operations Muhammad Nazeer says the crime rate has decreased. However the facts are not the same despite claims of police to reduce crime rate.
