ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) has acquitted two accused on Tuesday after ten years of imprisonments each by giving them benefit of doubt in a murder case.

Waheed and Nadeem were accused of murdering a local named Tanveer in 2007 in Shehzad Town in the federal capital with the trial court accusing sentencing the former to death and the latter to life imprisonment.

Islamabad High Court (IHC) had reviewed the verdict and sentenced Waheed to life imprisonment while Nadeem to ten years in prison.

In a review petition filed in the apex court, the two accused were acquitted today with Justice Asif Saeed Khosa reprimanding capital police officials for not shouldering their responsibility of finding the truth and attempting to prove claimant’s side of the story true instead of finding the truth.
