ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Wednesday has acquitted death row convict Iqbal Masih after nine years.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa conducted hearing on suspect Iqbal Masih’s acquittal plea.
During the proceeding, Justice Asif remarked that the suspect cannot be punished on fake statement and that proving the crime is prosecutor’s duty who has failed to do so.
The court released Javed Masih and dismissed all the charges against him.
It is to be mentioned here that Masih was accused of killing Perveen Bibi in Christian colony, Wazirabad. Trial court had sentenced him to death which was also upheld by high court.
