KARACHI (Dunya News) – Two suspects linked to Jirga sanctioned murder of newly married couple in Mominabad have confessed to the crime in the local court.

According to the confession of Zia-Ul-Haq and Ghulam Rasool, it was decided in the Jirga that the newly married couple who married without the consent of their parents, should be murdered.

The strategy was devised following the unlawful verdict and on the night of November 22, Jirga’s head Maskeen along with his sons brutally tortured the couple before killing them.

On November 23, ditches were dug in the Kaimkhani graveyard before burying the dead bodies after midnight.

The court sent the culprits to jail after recording their statement.

Police had arrested nine suspects after a boy and girl were killed and buried in Karachi area on the orders of Jirga.

The incident took place within the vicinity of Mominabad where jirga ordered death penalty for a newly married couple, Hasna and Hadi, from Kohistan who tied the knot without the consent of their parents.

Orangi Town police station SP Abid Baloch informed media that the girl’s family is involved in the crime and they were accompanied by a boy’s family to whom the girl was engaged. He confirmed the arrest of nine suspects, telling that the police have widened the area of investigation.

The action was taken upon the information gathered from area residents who revealed that a newlywed couple had disappeared just after settling in the town. Police had identified blood near one house.
